Mission Statement

Our mission is the provision of a broad, relevant, curriculum for our students, through which they can develop their full potential. We aim to prepare our students to participate as good  Christians and as good citizens in society.

School Ethos

Ballinamore Post-Primary Schools aim at helping students develop in the personal, academic, sporting, cultural and spiritual dimensions of their lives.  The intention is to help equip our students with the personal and the learning skills, which will assist them in their adult and professional lives.

Ballinamore P.P.S. has a strong sporting tradition in Gaelic Football, Basketball and Athletics; winning All Ireland titles in Basketball in 1995, Gaelic Football in 2000 and Athletics in 2001 and numerous Connachtfootball2.jpg (151508 bytes) Colleges titles.  We produce players and atheletes of the highest caliber who have gone on to distinguish themselves at Inter-county, Provincial, National and International Levels.  We also participate in hurling, badminton, handball and golf competitions.  The newly built Ballinamore Community Sports Complex adjacent to St. Felim’s provides us with a valuable new indoor facility of international standard. This complements our all weather pitch at St. Felim's.

The schools commitment to Christian values and to the importance of community involvement is essential for an educational environment which helps to promote the strengths of each pupil.  We provide for the pastoral care of students with a career guidance teacher.  The learning support department assists students who have learning difficulties.  To help bridge the gap from primary to second level, first years have an orientation day on their first day in school.

In terms of the performing arts, occasional concerts and plays have given students opportunities to develop their dramatic and vocal skills.  Participation in public speaking, quizzes and in the All-Ireland Slógadh competitions is encouraged and facilitated by teachers.  The school magazine gives students a chance to exercise their creative and descriptive abilities.  Educational tours to European Countries have provided students with opportunities to experience other cultures.  Visits to theatres and cinema as well as field trips are also provided for students.
